Skip to nomination ↧As our union’s annual convention approaches, we wanted to take a minute to tell you about the roles up for election. So between today and the start of our convention on September 4, 2021 you will be receiving emails describing the various roles open for your consideration.
Working in a team of five, the International Committee members act as the union’s department for international relations with unions outside of North America.
The union will be accepting nominations for the position starting September 4, 2021 at the beginning of the Permanent Session of the Convention.

The Role: Member of the International Committee
The Term of Office: 2 years upon election at the annual referendum
Start Date: January 1, 2022
The Requirements:
- Member of the union for at least a year and a half, having never fallen behind on your dues for six months or more within the last year and a half.
Number of Nominations Required to be Placed on the Ballot: 1
The Main Responsibilities:

Working under the supervision of the General Executive Board, as an IC member working in a team you will be responsible for:
- Coordinating the union’s international relations with other unions outside of North America
- Maintain ongoing, regular exchange of information and publications with selected unions
- Coordinate international support towards selected unions engaged in labor conflict
- Coordinate with Communications Officer to draft, publish, and circulate statements of solidarity on behalf of the union
- Represent the union on the international front
- Act as a representative to international bodies outside of the union’s jurisdiction
- Assist the Organizing Department of the union in connecting with their counterparts in other labor unions
- Assist the Organizing Department of the union in fielding workplace organizing leads from outside of North America to union chapters abroad, or affiliate unions abroad when possible
- Giving overall oversight to the operations, finances, and activities of the committee
- Directly facilitating the tasks and projects adopted by your committee
- Drafting activity reports
- Attend regular meetings by conference call
- Composing, motivating, debating, and voting on formal motions

- Start of the Permanent Session of the General Convention (September 4, 2021)
Nomination Period Closes:
- End of the General Convention (Approximately September 6, 2021 @ 5pm CST)
